Qeshm

Qeshm is a free duty zone and has the shape of a dolphin. This Island which is the largest island in Iran, lies strategically in the Strait of Hormoz. Qeshm island UNESCO Global Geopark is part of the huge mountain range of Zagros and because of its natural and historical beauties is the only Geopark in the Middle East.

Star Valley is located near berkeh khalaf village and the local name for it is Estalah-kaftah i.e., the Fallen Star. Stars Valley with a historical background of about two million years have been created as a result of soil, stone and sand erosion caused by the wind and rain. The features and exquisite sights caused the Stars valley has been registered in the list of the UNESCO as a section of Qeshm Island Geopark.

Harra protected area is a collection of green Mangrove Coastal Trees known as biosphere reservoir for its international significance and are considered the sights with their streams, beautiful birds and intact wild nature. These evergreen trees survive easily in brackish water because there is a filtration property in the hara tree’s bark which allows the plant to absorb sweet water so they don’t absorb salt from the water and use freshwater; in other words, they act like a desalination plant.

There are two valleys plumbed on each other vertically. Chahkouh is a narrow valley with vertical rims and wonderful formations. Since the floor of the valley is the place on which water flows after each time raining, the locals have graved well on it to make use of water.

Portuguese Castle is a red stone fortress on Qeshm Island. This castle is one of the last surviving monuments of Portuguese colonial rule in Persian Gulf. This Castle has two ramparts and towers in the four corners. In order to dominate the strategic sea trade route between India and Europe, the Portuguese built several castles in the islands surrounding the Persian Gulf. These castles had very similar architecture and were mostly used to defend against local people’s riots.

When the tide is low, a narrow road of sand will appear from the water that connects Naz Islands to Qeshm Island. During this brief time, you can pass through this road and reach to the Naz Island and find yourself gazing at the horizons of Qeshm, Lark, and Hormuz from top of the cliffs. It is worth to mention that Naz Islands are part of Qeshm geo-park.

a small and beautiful island attracts the eyes for its elegance in the most southern part of Iran which is called Hengam. The azure waters of Persian Gulf and different types of sea creatures, the most famous of which are the dolphins, and watching sea turtles are tourist attractions of this Island.
